Also called razordogs, Korlx are the wolves of Aztersil. About three to four feet at the shoulder, they tend to hunt in packs, but have been known to hunt solitarily. Their bodies are stocky and muscular, but their legs are thin, with a long spike curving up from both knee and elbow joins. Each foot has three, deadly clawed toes. The shoulder blades poke out from the flesh, creating two plate like bones poking from its back. The Korlx head is lean, with a long snout and large, bat like ears. At the base of its head begins a line of red spines that run down to the base of its tail. Their tails are long, but have an almost tentacle look to them. The tail is about five feet long and has several branches of tail coming out all along the main tail. Each branch is about three feet long and moves freely.
There is no difference between the male and female korlx. It is said that there isn't even a male or female korlx. The korlx is genderless and considered asexual. If one of the branches of the tail gets cut off, it will grow into a new korlx.
They are thickest in Torretor, Antangil, and Deathglare Ridge. Though, korlx are like the wolves of earth and live deep in nearly any forest or dark terrain.
All korlx are evil. They have a dark intelligence to them, and only to hunt after their prey. They will follow the orders of a dark wizard, and even help protect an evil being, but only so far as they will not be risking their necks for him. Korlx will track a party of travelers for days, following them and slowly picking away at their defenses before attacking.
Korlx are born of the darkness, rising from the deepest shadows of Deathglare Ridge, or even the black waters of Antangil. They are quick, and darkly cleaver. They never sleep, and are always hungry, thirsting for the death of their prey. A korlx never rests and never becomes tired.
They cannot stand the light. Fires will keep them away if it is bright enough. Light burns their flesh like acid, eating away at them.
They have limited shadow control, only for quick spurts can they use it to whip out at their opponent. They never sleep and never need to rest. They have rapid healing abilities. When slashed with a sword, they can heal the wound in a matter of minutes. Korlx cannot speak, but make a strange deep laughing sound when they face off with their prey.
A korlx can live on its own for nearly 200 years, if it is not caught in the light before then.
