Begris are very brutish creatures, whose flesh is much like that of stone. The average height of a begris ranges from 6ft 10in to 6ft 3in. The average begris weighs about 400 lbs. The stone flesh of a begris is smooth on their stomachs, but rough on their backs and arms. Their bodies are the colours of stone, whatever stone they were born from. Begris are only born of stone, not gems. Though, it is not unheard of for a begris to be an almost gem like shine or skin colour.
Their faces are very doglike in appearance, with small eyes and a sort of snout like protrusion of the mouth. They have a flat, catlike nose, though no fur or whiskers. Begris have no hair or fur upon their bodies. They have no eyebrows, and no eyelashes. Begris eyes shine bright colours, bright with the magic that keeps their existence alive.
Starting at the base of their snout, a plate arches, forming their forehead, and curving with various ripples around their temples and over the head. This plate extends over the thick neck in various styles. At the end of the plate, each edge normally sports a very thick black horn, though begris can have spikes all over their bodies in various styles. Their throats are thick, and covered with black plates that overlap, creating a natural armor. Their arms are long and thick, heavy with muscle much like the rest of their body.
They have four fingers, each finger has a thick padding on the tip of the fingers and the palm. This same padding is on their feet. The begris walk upon their four toes, with knees slightly bent. Often, down their backs the same overlapping plates as on their throats are present. Most begris have a short tail which is often decorated with spikes.
Begris are gruff, uncaring creatures that have little worry for the dealings of other cultures. They are miners, and often, those that work heavy jobs that are too much for the slimmer, more elegant races. The begris government is settled into different sectors of the mining communities. Each mining community has a leader. The eldest begris is the leader of that community. If an elder begris enters the community, one who has been working for more years than the current begris leader, the current leader must step down if the elder asks him to hand over the leadership of the community. The current leader acts as the head of the mining and town operations of that community. Begris do not care to live in multirace cities, and do not normally allow other races to live for a long period of time in their own cities.
Cave dogs
The begris are commonly looked at as dogs in upon the world for their doglike faces. They are normally situated deep in the ground, mining crystals and metals in the caves under the surface of the Aztersilian world. For this, they have earned the name of cave dogs.
Begris are genderless, and do not produce in any natural way. Though they may appear more female or more male, they are in fact, the same. Begris are born from a crystal being crushed into stone, leaking the magic into the stone itself. Thus is born a begris.
Most begris have rough, vulgar personalities. They do not mind in the least telling others that their problems are foolish. Begris are self serving, most of them anyway. It is VERY rare for a begris to ever become a hero, mostly because they believe it to be foolish to stick their necks out for anyone other than themselves. However, in a war, a charging begris is not one to face off against easily. They know exactly how to throw their weight around, and can easily crush their enemies with a hand.
The begris believe in one god, the god of stone. The God of Stone is a powerful being also known as Xikav. Xikav is a god of neither good nor evil. He supposedly appears to his followers as a tall, dog faced humanoid with elk horns arching and twisting above his head like some kind of tree branches.
Because they were born of crystals, begris already have a few powers that the crystal they were born from possessed. Xikav grants his priests powers to summon elemental beasts. They are only able to summon one type of elemental beast, but the power of the beast reflects the power of the priest. Priests are normally marked with glowing facial designs.
Begris have few, but powerful abilities. When a begris places his hands upon a stone, they are able to morph that stone into any shape they wish. They cannot make it bigger or smaller, but only able to morph the stone they touch. Because of this, a powerful begris is able to raise walls, or create tunnels in a cave system. They also have the ability to locate and use crystals quite easily. The final, and perhaps most interesting ability they possess is that of whatever crystal they were born from. Begris are born from a crystal being crushed against stone. Whatever powers that crystal held, the begris holds as well.
Due to their size and weight, begris tend to be heavy fighters. Speed is not their ally. They wield large, heavy weapons, and deal crushing blows to those that fall prey to them. They can easily fight with their hands, dealing crushing punches that can warp armor enough to suffocate their opponents. They know how to throw their weight around, and do so with much satisfaction to send their foes running.
They have immense strength, and flesh as hard as stone. When they are hit, it acutely appears as if one has struck stone, with spider webbing cracks. The only difference is begris bleed.
Begris cannot swim due to their immense size and weight. They do not burn in fire, but tend to melt slightly. Temperatures do not affect them so much, but they are susceptible to lightning magics.
Begris are not considered adults until they are at least 100. Their known lifespan is about 600 years.
It has been known for begris to be born having four arms. These begris are revered in the society, for more hands means more strength.
A rough, gravelly tongue known as Borzon. It is not difficult to learn, but those that are not begris tend to have terrible accents.
